Frequently Asked Questions

Is your honey organic?

Although honey is organically produced, at this moment in time some of our honey is not certified organic.

In order to for honey to be certified organic our beekeepers would need to prove that the honey has been foraged organically. As bees are
estimated to fly in a 9-mile radius, it’s quite impossible to measure whether they haven't picked up pesticides from other neighbourhoods here in England. As such, our honey procured from in and around Britain will not be certified organic.

Nonetheless, our beekeepers use natural and traditional processes when foraging honey, without the use of harmful pesticides or additives - which would still keep your honey pure & natural.

My honey is crystallised - is this normal?

Yes it is! Cyrstallisation actually a natural occurance of honey is a sign that the honey is of a high quality and has not been heat-treated or processed. Crystallisation also preserves the flavours and beneficial qualities of raw honey. As honey is removed from the warm environement of the hive, crystallisation of honey is usually inevitable unless it is kept is sufficient storing conditions.

If your honey has crystallised, we recommened putting the jar in a bowl of gentle warm water. Do not put it in the microwave as this will destroy the enzymes and nutrients within the honey!

Does honey expire?

If properly stored, our honey can still be consumed for many years after purchase Good storage pracrices are crucial for an optimal shelf life when it comes to any type of honey.

According to our provisions, we give a 'best before ' date of at least 2 years once purchased. Although we think you'll have finished your honey long before then :)

What is the best way to store my honey?
